1) Double click on the desktop icon:
2) The main window will appear.
You will need to be connected to the Internet for this next step.
Click on "Search for Updates".
3) Spybot will connect and check what updates are available
When finished, this window will appear:
with a list of available updates: If none are available, jump to Step 6.
4) Select the important updates by clicking the box next to each line you want to download.
In doubt, select all of them (the download will just take a little longer).
Then click on "Download Updates"
5) Once each update has been downloaded, a green tick will be present next to each line you selected in the list:
6) Click on "Search & Destroy"
7) Click on "Check for problems"
The program will start scanning your system. It can take a good 10 or 15 mins.
You can check the progress on these 2 parts of the window:
When the scan is complete, a list of problems may appear in the window.
They should all been ticked green by default.
8) Click on "Fix selected problems" and click "Yes" when the "are you sure" dialog box opens.
9) Big green ticks will then appear next to every entry which has been removed
Your system is now clean and you can now exit Spybot
Make sure you run Spybot regularly to keep your machine clean. (once a week at least)
